How often should an office be cleaned?
Start with how the space is used
There is no single correct cleaning frequency — only the right frequency for your floor plan, headcount and working pattern. A 20-person office with hybrid rostering behaves very differently to a 20-person office at full attendance five days a week.
The three drivers that matter most are daily occupancy, the number of shared touchpoints (kitchens, washrooms, meeting rooms, lifts) and whether food is prepared or eaten at desks.
A practical baseline
As a starting framework, most Perth offices land on a schedule built from three layers: a daily or near-daily service for washrooms, kitchens and bins; a weekly pass for vacuuming, dusting and surfaces across the whole floor; and a periodic deep clean for carpets, hard floors and high-level detail.
High-traffic areas should always be serviced more often than the floor as a whole. Reception, amenities and breakout spaces carry the hygiene load of the entire tenancy.
Signs your frequency is wrong
Bins overflowing before the next scheduled visit, washroom consumables running out mid-cycle, and visible dust on workstations are all signals the scope no longer matches occupancy. Frequency should be reviewed whenever headcount or rostering changes materially.
Black Swan scopes every office programme from a walk through, so the schedule is built on your actual floor — not a generic template.
